The Minister Who Spoke Out
Paul Hellyer served as Canada's Minister of National Defence from 1963 to 1967 under Prime Minister Lester Pearson — the period of the Cold War's most intense military activity and some of the most significant UAP encounters in North American history. After decades of silence, Hellyer became increasingly public in his claims that extraterrestrial intelligence is real and that multiple governments — including Canada and the United States — are aware of it.
Hellyer testified before the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure in Washington D.C. in 2013, becoming the first cabinet-level official from a NATO country to make public statements under oath asserting extraterrestrial contact.
Credibility and Controversy
Hellyer's claims go further than those of most whistleblowers — he describes specific species, political agreements, and hidden technologies — in ways that many serious researchers find difficult to verify. His status as a former cabinet minister ensures his claims receive attention; the extraordinary nature of those claims makes sober evaluation essential.
