The Black Vault

John Greenewald Jr. began filing Freedom of Information Act requests with the U.S. government at the age of 15 and has since built The Black Vault — a publicly accessible online database containing millions of pages of declassified government documents, many of them obtained through his own FOIA efforts.

The Black Vault is an invaluable resource for UAP researchers, containing declassified CIA, FBI, DIA, and Pentagon documents on UFO programmes spanning decades. Greenewald's systematic approach to FOIA research has surfaced documents that would otherwise have remained buried.

Critical Voice

Greenewald occupies a distinctive position in the UAP space: he is simultaneously one of its most important document researchers and one of its most rigorous internal sceptics. He has questioned aspects of the modern disclosure narrative — including certain claims by Elizondo and others about AATIP — on the basis of what the documents he has obtained actually show. His commitment to primary sources over secondary narrative makes him an important corrective voice.
